Bum Machine is a musical collective currently based between Chicago and Bloomington, IN.

It was first founded by John Value in Chicago as a way to perform songs from his expansive solo catalogue live, as all or most of these records were recorded by himself in their entirety.

Line-up's were subject to change; and it proved difficult to find a steady backing band and break into the Chicago scene. John grew restless. He took a fateful trip down to see some friends in Bloomington, which ultimately led to the creation of the current incarnation of the Bum Machine and the songs from this release:

This record was recorded with musicians Mark Brady and Evan Munz on drums and bass, respectively. It re-creates two songs that took form instantaneously when the three embarked upon a spontaneous jam session that was forever immortalized on a cassette tape inside John's clunky cassette recorder, (ever present at moments like these,) and then rearranged upon John's return to Chicago.

It was recorded at the Eleven16 Recording Studio in Chicago by Bob "Vladimir" Hanson, who had taken John on as an intern in the summer of 2011.

The songs have spoken for themselves and have proven this new line-up undeniable; the group is now seeking to establish a permanent presence in the supportive musical community of Bloomington, and to spread the sounds of OneM1c Recordings.
